Terms of Service

These terms explain the rules, responsibilities, and service boundaries that apply when you use PlayCut for athlete film-editing, highlight reels, and related delivery work.

Effective date: April 13, 2026

1. Overview

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of PlayCut, including our website, communications, and athlete film-editing services. By using PlayCut or placing an order, you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and, if applicable, the athlete, team, club, or organization you represent.

If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the service. If you are using PlayCut for a minor athlete, you confirm that you are the athlete's parent, guardian, coach, or another authorized representative.

2. What PlayCut provides

PlayCut offers video-editing services designed to help athletes present highlight reels, scouting packages, and season footage more clearly. Service details, package limits, turnaround expectations, and revision scope may vary by offer and will be described at checkout, in a proposal, or in direct communication with you.

We may update, improve, pause, or discontinue parts of the service from time to time. We are not obligated to maintain every feature or workflow indefinitely.

3. Eligibility and account responsibility

You must provide accurate information when contacting us, requesting service, or creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for activity that occurs through your account or order.

You may not use the service in a way that violates any law, infringes any person's rights, or interferes with the operation of PlayCut.

4. Your footage and permissions

You retain ownership of the footage, logos, photographs, music, text, and other materials you submit to PlayCut. However, you grant us a limited license to host, review, edit, reproduce, analyze, modify, and deliver that material for the purpose of providing, operating, improving, and supporting the service you requested.

That license includes the right to use submitted materials, prompts, instructions, and related project data to develop, train, test, fine-tune, and improve AI-assisted editing tools, internal machine-learning systems, and vendor-supported AI features used by PlayCut, unless we separately agree in writing not to do so for a specific project.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have all rights and permissions needed for anything you submit to us, including footage of athletes, team branding, broadcaster clips, music, and third-party creative assets.

  • Do not upload material that you do not have permission to use.
  • Do not submit content that is unlawful, abusive, deceptive, defamatory, or invasive of another person's privacy.
  • If a third party claims your submitted material infringes their rights, you are responsible for that dispute, not PlayCut.

5. Orders, pricing, and payment

Prices, package descriptions, and availability may change over time. The price that applies to your order is the one communicated to you at checkout or in a confirmed written agreement.

Payment may be required before work begins, at delivery, or on another schedule that we communicate in advance. If payment is processed through a third-party provider, that provider's terms and privacy practices will also apply to the transaction.

Unless we state otherwise in writing, fees paid for editing work already started are non-refundable except where required by law.

6. Turnaround, revisions, and delivery

Any turnaround estimate we provide is a good-faith estimate, not a guaranteed deadline, unless we expressly agree to a firm delivery date in writing. Delivery timing depends on queue volume, package scope, the quality of source footage, and how quickly you respond to questions or revision requests.

If your package includes revisions, those revisions must stay within the original project scope. Material changes in direction, major asset swaps, or repeated re-edits may require a new project, an updated timeline, or an extra fee.

7. Acceptable use

You may not misuse PlayCut or use it to support harmful, fraudulent, or illegal activity. We may suspend or refuse service if we reasonably believe your request creates legal, operational, or reputational risk.

  • No attempts to reverse engineer, disrupt, or interfere with the website or delivery workflow.
  • No uploading of malware, malicious scripts, or files intended to bypass security controls.
  • No impersonation of another person, club, school, or rights holder.

8. Intellectual property

PlayCut owns the PlayCut name, branding, service design, website content, and the original materials we create for operating the service, excluding materials you provide. Subject to full payment of applicable fees, you may use the final deliverables we create for you for your own personal, team, recruiting, and promotional purposes.

Unless we agree otherwise in writing, we may display finished work or excerpts for portfolio, quality-review, promotional purposes, and service-improvement workflows, including AI training and model evaluation. If you need a project to remain private or excluded from those uses, please tell us before work begins.

9. Disclaimers and limits of liability

PlayCut is provided on an as-available basis. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for every recruiting, scouting, or professional objective. Editing support can improve presentation, but it does not guarantee team placement, scholarship offers, trials, roster spots, or contracts.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PlayCut will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or lost-profit damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim related to the service will not exceed the amount you paid to us for the specific service giving rise to the claim during the 12 months before the claim arose.

10. Termination

You may stop using PlayCut at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to the service if you violate these terms, fail to pay amounts due, submit material you are not authorized to use, or create risk for the service or other users.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including provisions about payment, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, and dispute handling, will survive.

11. Changes to these terms and contact

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date on this page. Your continued use of PlayCut after updated terms become effective means you accept the revised terms.

If you have questions about these terms, contact us at help@playcut.com.
